I took my mum here for a late mothers day lunch, I had a £10 for 2 course voucher so we both ended up with the pea soup and the chicken liver and bacon salad. Both were amazing, the soup was very fresh and tasty with hot crusty bread and the chicken livers were succulent. We also got coffee for that price so for us I found it very affordable but ordering a la carte would end up being alot more and that might put me off in future. The waitress who served us was lovely and the atmosphere was buzzy. recommended for a special meal.....

Visited with the voucher for a quick set lunch just over an hour ago. Very satisfying. The menu didn't look too exciting with leek and potato soup ("British" cooking I guess) and some black pudding and potato main course whose name was too long to remember. However at £6.95 for that and coffee we couldn't complain! The soup was surprising - spices and other ingredients made it stand out from the usual L&P soup, and it was served with two huge slices of proper bread and (salted) butter, which reminded me of the pain de campagne we have at home over the Channel. The presentation was definitely good, and the soup, whilst somewhat salty (in my taste anyway), was also very edible, and certainly filling! This was followed with the main course, which as far as I could see contained black pudding, potatoes, an egg, mustard grains, and spinach, plus greens on top. The presentation, again, was beautiful and definitely a touch above the usual "British" grub you get in pubs. The food was tasty and British (i.e. filling and full of flavour). The portion sizes were very satisfying, both ours and those we could see arriving at other tables! In fact, these two courses filled us up so much we had to skip on puddings, which was a shame because those we saw looked extremely appetizing - watch out for a further review... I recommend the chocolate brownie-looking pudding, based on looks alone! The coffee arrived and was definitely fantastic. Not the usual espresso or bitter filter, but a big cup of dark, tasty stuff, with milk on the side and of course a small biscotti. Possibly one of the most satisfying coffees I've had in Cambridge. The service was very correct, we were asked to choose our table, and the waitress came to check on us twice, whilst staying unobstrusive and polite, and efficient. A real pleasure! Overall, excellent value for money with that offer (although check the menu for the real prices which are spicier), large filling portions, great service, and fantastic looking puddings. I'll definitely come back again for dessert (and coffee!) at some point, and probably for lunch when I'm really hungry!

Keep doing - presentation of food, history of wines quality of food and friendly service. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was good despite it being very busy. Plus everyone was very friendly (the birthday present for my daughter was a lovely touch). Enjoyed the whole experience as a result in addition to the food.

Subject : Afternoon Tea
Had been eager to try d'arrys since it opened as I have been watching its development from my college window, and finally popped in for cream teas. Initially a bit sceptical when met by a slightly sour waitresses, but that quickly disappeared. The scones were delicious - oven fresh and warm - and a lovely Scots gentleman (the owner?) gave us wonderful service, and refills of tea. Only the two of us in there, but never felt pressured to leave. Lovely!

Dear D'arrys,

I feel duty bound to email and let you know how wonderful the meal was that my boyfriend and I enjoyed Friday night (last night).

We had the Prawn COcktail and the FIsh Cakes, followed by the Moroccan Lamb and the Fish of the day and the food was just exemplary. I can honestly say one of the best meals I have had in a restaurant!! We sat in the small room across from the main restaurant with one other couple and the service from our Waiter - who's name i failed to get - was very attentive without being over bearing. All in all a truely wonderful evening and I wanted to let you know how pleased we both were with everything. I shall be recommending your restaurant to all my friends.

Thank you again for such a pleasurable evening.

YOurs sincerely, Fiona.

Subject : New Year's Eve
We celebrated New Year's Eve here. The restaurant was fully booked, terrific atmosphere, the fixed menu was simply 5 star, it was the best New Year's meal we have had at a restaurant. A crab tartlet and fillet steak were just two of the many highlights. The courses were ideally spaced out from 8 until 11ish, including a nice chat with the head chef who personally served the cheese board to each table. This was followed by drinks, home made chocolates and all the party bits and bobs ready to see in the New Year. In short a fantastic experience which far exceeded our expectations.
